MACOMB — State Senator John Sullivan, state lawmakers and the advocacy group Transportation for Illinois Coalition held three meetings across western Illinois on Tuesday discuss improving transportation funding.
The meetings in Quincy, Macomb and Galesburg brought together government officials, business leaders, community groups and labor organizations to cover how to improve roadway maintenance.
"We had great discussions about how to improve funding for our roads, bridges and highways. These conversations will hopefully pave the way for long-term job creation and infrastructure upkeep for our communities and the state," Sullivan said.
The sponsoring group TFIC highlighted areas of concern with Illinois roadways and outlined potential solutions. TFIC is made up of businesses, consumer groups, organized labor, units of government and community organizations.
